Local sources in Nangarhar province have told media outlets that a young woman and a young man were killed by gunfire in Kuz Kunar district of the province.
According to these sources, the two young individuals were in a romantic relationship and are believed to have been shot and killed by the girl’s brother.
The sources further stated that the incident occurred on Thursday of last week, 4th June , in the Bazark area of Kuz Kunar district.
Reports indicate that the girl had intended to elope with the young man; however, before the plan could be carried out, she was identified by her brother and subsequently killed.
The incident comes as Afghanistan continues to witness similar cases of domestic and social violence in certain regions.
