Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced his intention to dismiss Yulia Svyrydenko from the post of Prime Minister a move that, if legally finalized, will lead to the resignation of the country’s entire government.
On Sunday, July 12, Zelenskyy wrote on the social media platform X that these changes are being implemented within the framework of a "new political strategy." According to him, this plan will encompass changes not only within the government but also in the leadership of law enforcement agencies.
While expressing gratitude for Yulia Svyrydenko's performance, the Ukrainian President announced that she has been offered a new responsibility in managing relations with one of Ukraine's key partners. However, he has not yet named a nominee to form the new government.
Yulia Svyrydenko, a Ukrainian economist, was appointed Prime Minister in July 2025, after serving for several years as First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development and Trade.
Under Ukrainian law, the Prime Minister's resignation must be approved by parliament, and if confirmed, the entire cabinet will step down.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian media outlets have floated Denys Shmyhal, Mykhailo Fedorov, and Serhiy Kurtskyi as potential candidates to succeed Yulia Svyrydenko.
