The newspaper Israel Hayom, citing informed sources, reported that the Wednesday, 30 Sawr meeting at the White House regarding Iran was marked by serious disagreements among senior U.S. officials. According to the report, U.S. President Donald Trump ultimately approved the continuation of negotiations with the Islamic Republic, contrary to the views of the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of State.

The newspaper wrote that Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, and Pete Hegseth, the Secretary of Defense, believed that without extensive pressure — including military threats and tougher economic sanctions — it would be impossible to extract concessions from the Islamic Republic. In contrast, J. D. Vance reportedly argued that Tehran’s new proposal signaled flexibility and could pave the way for an initial agreement.

According to the report, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, special envoys of Donald Trump, also supported Vance’s position during the meeting. Sources said these officials had spoken with the leaders of Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia before the meeting took place.

Israel Hayom further reported that tensions escalated during the session when Trump criticized Vance and his special envoys, saying their approach could give the Islamic Republic an opportunity to buy time and could damage both the position of the United States and the presidency.

The report added that J.D. Vance responded by emphasizing that the U.S. government should focus on ending military conflicts, bringing American troops home, lowering oil prices, and concentrating on domestic problems in the United States remarks that, according to sources present at the meeting, surprised several officials.

The newspaper also referred to Trump’s consultations with regional leaders, stating that the leaders of Israel and the United Arab Emirates, while stressing the need to protect their sensitive facilities from possible attacks by the Islamic Republic, favored adopting tougher policies toward Tehran.

In contrast, the leaders of Saudi Arabia and Qatar prefer to avoid renewed tensions and fresh conflicts in the region and support the continuation of diplomacy.

In another part of the report, Israel Hayom referred to a phone call between Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu. According to the report, Netanyahu expressed dissatisfaction with the Islamic Republic’s conduct and the possibility that Tehran was attempting to stall for time, while Trump emphasized the complexity of the situation and the difficulty of the road ahead.

Despite the differences in opinion, Trump once again stressed that the United States remains committed to preventing a nuclear threat from the Islamic Republic of Iran.
