Summary

Amid growing political and security tensions between Islamabad and the Taliban, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that the military operation known as “Ghazab-ul-Haq” against the Taliban will continue with full determination.

Speaking at a military university in the city of Quetta, the capital of Balochistan, Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan will continue its operations against armed groups which, according to him, are active in Afghanistan and pose a threat to Pakistan’s security.

He claimed that these operations are being carried out to protect the lives and property of the Pakistani people, combat terrorist groups, and eliminate their safe havens.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan also praised the “professional capability, operational readiness, and sacrifices” of the country’s armed forces, saying that the military plays an important role in safeguarding Pakistan’s national sovereignty, peace, and stability.

Pakistani officials have long accused the Taliban of allowing anti-Pakistan militant groups to operate from Afghan territory and organize attacks, but the Taliban have rejected these accusations and insisted that they will not allow anyone to use Afghanistan’s soil against other countries.

In recent months, relations between Pakistan and the Taliban have faced unprecedented security and political pressures. Although both sides have repeatedly attempted ceasefires and negotiations, reports indicate that these efforts have so far failed to produce significant improvements in relations.

Several rounds of talks have also taken place between Pakistani and Taliban representatives in Qatar, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and China, but no clear agreement has yet been reached.

Analysts believe that the continuation of these disputes could further affect the region’s security situation and weaken the atmosphere of trust between the two sides even more.
