Taliban electricity company spokesman Mohammad Sadiq Haqparast says that work on the CASA-1000 project in Afghanistan is underway in three sections and has so far been 80 percent completed.
He stated that work on the first lot of the project has been completed, while activities on the other two lots have also reached their final stages.
Haqparast added that work on the CASA-1000 project has been completed in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Pakistan, and it is expected to be finalized in Afghanistan soon as well.
According to him, after the completion of the project, Afghanistan will receive around 65 million dollars annually as transit fees.
He said that 1,000 megawatts of electricity will also be transmitted to Pakistan through Afghanistan. According to him, the CASA-1000 project is important for regional connectivity and can strengthen economic relations between Afghanistan and neighboring countries.
The CASA-1000 project transfers electricity from Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to Pakistan through Afghanistan.
Earlier, Kyrgyzstan had announced that it had completed all construction work related to its section of the CASA-1000 project, and that the remaining work depends on the completion of Afghanistan’s section.
