The Ministry of Public Health of the Taliban, Abdul Wali Siddiqui, Deputy Minister for Finance and Administration of the ministry, says that 61 new hospitals will be constructed and put into service in various provinces of Afghanistan by the end of the current year.
Siddiqui stated that, based on the order of the Taliban leader, the construction of 318 health centers and hospitals has been approved across the country.
According to him, priority in this plan has been given to areas whose residents do not have adequate access to healthcare services and are deprived of medical facilities.
He added that the construction of these hospitals and health centers will increase the capacity for delivering healthcare services in many regions and will provide greater treatment facilities for the population.
This comes as a recent report by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) indicates that the maternal mortality rate in Afghanistan remains high, and many women lose their lives during childbirth due to a lack of access to healthcare services.
