The Taliban have announced that 3,208 carats of emerald extracted from mines in Panjshir province have been sold.
The Bakhtar News Agency, which is under Taliban control, reported on Tuesday, 26 Joz, that this quantity of emeralds was sold to domestic traders.
According to the report, Saifuddin Laton, the spokesperson for the Taliban governor in Panjshir province, stated that the emeralds were sold for a total of 139,400 U.S. dollars.
This comes just days after the Taliban also reported the sale of nearly 12,000 carats of emeralds extracted from mines in Panjshir.
Since regaining control of Afghanistan, the Taliban have repeatedly announced the sale of precious stones from this province, particularly emeralds.
