Summary

The Afghanistan Cricket Board has announced that according to the regulations of the International Cricket Council (ICC), no active player is allowed to participate in foreign leagues without obtaining official permission from their national board, even if they have resigned from international cricket. The requirement for an NOC (No Objection Certificate) remains in place for several years.

The board has added that the “Legends League” in India has not been officially recognized by either the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) or the ICC. Additionally, the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Unit had previously warned that participation in this league should not be allowed.

According to the rules, the organizers of such leagues or franchises must request official permission from the national boards of the players, rather than players acting independently.

Due to this violation, the Afghanistan Cricket Board has decided that Samiullah Shenwari, Mohammad Shahzad, and Aftab Alam will be banned from all forms of cricket for at least four months for their unauthorized participation in the “Legends League” in India.
